Been a while...

Mon Jul 21, 2008, 3:23 PM
  • Mood: Distracted
  • Listening to: Suddenly I See by K. T. Tunstall
  • Reading: Metamorphoses by P. Ovidius Naso (English version)
  • Watching: Edipo Re (which I heartily do unrecommend)
  • Playing: Playing?
  • Eating: lemon ice cream
  • Drinking: blood
...since I've done anything here. I saw my entry describing how I'm an Ancient History major and winced at how long ago that must've been even before I saw the date. Currently, Classics and Linguistics dual major (hopefully not changing any time soon), and the reason I'm too busy to do any drawing is that I'm taking Latin over the summer, as well as a 300-level Classics course, all while continuing to hold down a job. Next semester, joy oh joy, I'm taking Greek Prose, Latin Prose, Sanskrit, Linguistics, and Ancient Near Eastern Religions. Farewell what little free time I had.

Speaking of Latin, I also winced at that bit I got off of a website and stuck on my profile ("Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes!") Not very good Latin; It translates approximately to "If you know to read this you have too much of education!" I've replaced it with something better ("Si hoc legere potes nimium eruditonem habes!": "If you are able to read this you have too much education!") suited to the original intent ("If you can read this, you're overeducated!"). "Sona si latine loqueris!" ("Sound off [honk] if you speak Latin!") was already correct. Of course, now I've proven that I really am overeducated, as I was able not only to read it, but to correct it.

Of course, as always when learning a new language, I keep spouting off bits of words and derivative paths, so I'm annoying everyone around me. Also, I have no time for drawing, though I may eventually scan in a couple of things I drew at the beginning of the summer. I'm getting a little writing done in five-minute snatches between things, but mostly I spend my bits of free time either doing extra Latin sentences for practice, translating bits of the Anabasis (for a study group to keep us in practice for Greek Prose next year) or reading stuff I should already have read for Ancient Mythology and Society. If I have a spare moment beyond that, it's generally letting my brain melt because if I don't my brain wil meltdown, and that would be a bad thing.

So, anyone who keeps up with my life via this page, I'm sorry; I haven't even used my cell phone in two weeks, let alone anything online.

Well, I tried to use King Henry V III, i, 39-71, but it didn't fit. So, here's my more traditional sig:

'Vincit amour omnia,
regit amour omnia.
